# Why Base?

PerspectiveAI is built on **Base**, the Ethereum Layer 2 (L2) developed by **Coinbase**. Our choice to build on Base wasn’t just technical — it was strategic, aligned with our values, and essential to our long-term mission.

### What Is Base?

**Base** is a secure, low-cost, Ethereum-compatible Layer 2 blockchain built using the **OP Stack** (Optimism). It’s designed to make onchain applications more accessible to both developers and everyday users.

Base combines the scalability of Layer 2s with the security and decentralization of Ethereum. It is fully open-source, EVM-compatible, and closely integrated with Coinbase products — giving it real-world distribution power and developer support.

### Why Build on Base?

We chose Base for a few key reasons:

#### 1. **Scalability Without Compromise**

Base offers faster and cheaper transactions without sacrificing security. This allows us to support:

* Micro-rewards for prompt activity
* Staking and model-token interactions
* Agent-based automation — all without gas friction

#### 2. **Onchain Incentives, Real Users**

Coinbase brings an active, real-world user base. That aligns perfectly with our POV token model — where actual usage, not speculation, drives value creation.

We’re building a platform where:
